Plantar Warts

A plantar wart is a swelling flat, rough and tough that appears on the soles. Plantar warts are more common in youths aged 12 to 16 years. You may have a plantar wart for many years. In children it tends, however, to disappear in a month. Most people have had a plantar wart in adulthood.

Causes of plantar warts:

Warts are caused by a germ called a virus. This virus called human papillomavirus, or HPV, causes some skin cells grow faster than others. The HPV comes in, usually in the skin through cuts or scratches. Raising the wart or scratching can cause the virus to spread.

Signs and symptoms of a plantar wart:

Layers of skin build up on the foot in circles or ovals. Warts are usually the same color of their skin but can also be darker. Begin, in general, being small, but may increase in size. May or may not cause pain when standing or walking

Caution:

Contact your doctor for a follow up visit. Write down any questions you have about plantar warts. Remember it will thus putting them during your next visit. Carefully follow your doctor's instructions while receiving treatment for their wart. Keep the area clean and dry the wart between treatments. Do not cut or shave the area being treated unless your doctor allows you to. You can earn an increased sensitivity in the feet for 2 to 3 weeks if you have to have surgery to remove the wart. Contact your doctor if you notice any of the following symptoms:

    More pain or bleeding that has not stopped after treatment.

    Redness, swelling or drainage of the treated area. These are signs of an infection.

    The wart has grown in size, spread or new warts appeared to him.

    Problems that might be caused by the medications you are taking.

Plantar wart - Treatment:

At present, there are various treatments for plantar warts:

Medicines for warts: These medicines can be bought without a prescription in pharmacies.

Cryotherapy: This treatment freezes the warts to remove them. Freezing kills the wart skin cells to prevent their growth and multiplication.

Electrocautery: This treatment uses heat from electricity to eliminate warts. Electricity is used to heat a needle, and heated, is placed over the wart. The electricity is not transmitted to the body. Before undergoing an electrocautery, tell your doctor if you have a pacemaker.

Keratolytic therapy: This treatment uses drugs acids to make the outer layer of skin to loosen and become detached. After the wart to be trimmed and reduced through keratolytic therapy, will be able to use other treatments to remove it.

Laser Therapy (LLLT): This treatment consists of applying a thin beam of light on the wart. Usually remain scars on the skin minimum when using laser therapy. Or surgery to remove the wart.
